Tanuki Sunset v1.4 Patch Notes

Hey everyone!

After considering what our next set of priorities are in our road-map; we put together a bunch of fixes and new features together in this patch. One of the things we noticed that happened a lot to new players was how sudden the game drops you into the gameplay with no information at all. We don't want to force anyone through a tutorial level, but we thought it was a good idea to include some screens with information about the basic movements and mechanics. In addition to this, we added a bunch of fixes and new cool things to do during gameplay.

Onto the changes now:

  • Added a new gameplay mechanic: Rescuing Kit. During your run you have a chance of encountering little Kit, a baby raccoon. He's always getting in trouble so it's up to you to help him out! Kit will spawn randomly hanging from a tow-truck's hook. If you pass underneath him, he will jump to your back. Kit's mom (always worried) will surely be waiting not too far downhill. If you drop him off, you will get a lot of points!
  • Max speed has now been reduced a little. Wwe noticed players who didn't drift very often would very commonly accumulate a lot of speed, making some of the corners pretty hard, specially if  they just started learning the mechanics. This new maximum speed should help with this situation. We still want to eventually give the players the option of choosing a faster set of wheels or trucks to keep them going fast, so don't worry!
  •  Drifting has been adjusted again, this time we wanted to prevent players from over-compensating during a drift, spinning out of control. It will now be smoother and help keep the players in control.
  • The 'Fakie' (actually a 180 slide) is now a little slower. However, it now reduces your speed considerably. By the way, we were wrong to call this mechanic the Fakie. Since riding Fakie is a stance, and not an actual trick. So we renamed the trick as 180, and we're calling it 180 or 180 slide from now on.
  • We added a tutorial on the main menu. We want to ease players in with the amount of mechanics we are adding. We now added a "How to Play" section on the main menu.
  • Ramps now have a nice texture to better show their orientation and position on the road.

Bug Fixes:

  • Selecting 'Exit' on the Pause Menu or after ending a run now takes the players  back to the Main Menu, instead of closing the game.
  • Radio Mode now stays on the original color palette for the first song.
  • Songs now loop in original mode.
  • Pause is now triggered using the 'Escape' button on Keyboard controls, instead of 'Tab'.
  • Added the letter 'U' that was missing on the leader-board name entry. (Sorry!)

That's all for now! Thank you all so much for playing our game, we hope you are having a good time. As usual, don't hesitate to contact us through here or on our official Twitter: (https://twitter.com/SquidSquadDev). Happy skating!
